Mya Gonzalez

Today was Mya’s first play date. AJ, who is 5 months old, came over with his parents, Dane & Jess. He was very interested in Mya & seemed to help wake her up for a little bit. Although Mya slept quite a bit while AJ was here, the two have plenty of time to hang out later.

Today was also Mya’s first pediatrician appointment. After leaving the hospital at 6 lbs. 4 oz, she had gained 5 oz. back.

Lesson learned for the day: do NOT attempt to change a diaper in the car, regardless of whether you have 4 hands or not. Kristin attempted to change Mya’s diaper in the car after the pediatrician appointment, during which Mya decided to pee all over the mat. It slid down the mat towards the car seat & Scott was leaning over the car seat attempting to not have the urine get all over the seat. Meanwhile, Kristin had no place to put Mya to finish changing her diaper, so she placed Mya on her lap, where Mya peed once again. Success was a disaster.

Mya went to visit her Great Grandma Julius and Grandma Glatfelter today. She also met Chester again, who had returned home and was very jealous of Mya. Kristin learned why mothers were given 6 weeks of maternity leave: it takes that long to figure out how to get out the door without turning around every 5 minutes because you forgot something, the baby had pooped or needed fed again.

Scott gave Mya her first bath today. She was not very happy, but later got to wear her “angel with an attitude” outfit. Many people stopped by to visit today. Uncle Adam & Aunt Erin drove down for the day to visit the newest addition to their family. Grandma & Grandpa Gonzalez, Great Aunt Barbara and Matt also stopped by.

Mya was discharged from the hospital today. She briefly met Chester, although Chester was quite upset and cried most of the day before he left for the night with Grandma & Grandpa Glatfelter. Kristin and Scott spent a good part of the day getting acquainted with Mya. A visit from Grandma and Grandpa Gonzalez was also in store, before Mya’s first night keeping mommy and daddy awake at home.

Today Mya met both of her grandmas and grandpas. Doctors and nurses were in and out all day to monitor Mya and her mommy. She also received her first immunization and had some blood taken, which resulted in tears from Mya & Kristin. Scott also quickly became an expert at changing diapers, which allowed Kristin to get a few minutes of sleep.

Mya Lynn has finally made her appearance after 38 weeks & 3 days in the womb. Weighing in at 6 lbs 11.6 oz and measuring 18.5 inches long, Mya was born a healthy baby. Kristin’s water broke at 7am on March 6th, after experiencing some back & abdominal pain the previous day at work. Contractions began around 10:30am and by 5:41pm, Mya was testing out her set of lungs as she was introduced to mommy and daddy for the first time.
