Christmas Lights.

December 22nd, 2009

Mya went to see Christmas lights with her friend, Cora, today. Everyone loaded onto a tractor-driven hayride in the freezing cold to drive around the trail of lights. Mya did not seem to have much interest at first, but out of nowhere, she began to sway to the music and made her attempts to sing along with the music.

Movie Night.

December 19th, 2009

Mya spent the morning playing with her dad, Dane and Alex this morning. Later, the kids bundled up and headed out in the cold to the wet playground. Mya found playground equipment that looked like a pole on a small rotating platform and enjoyed getting dizzy and attempting to walk. It took her a few times to be able to stay on her feet.

In the evening, Mya and Alex both curled up at separate spots on the couch with their bunnies, pacifiers, pillows and blankets. Mya sat for almost 3/4 of the movie, Up, before she crawled over and curled up to her mom and Dylan. Although she stayed up two hours past bedtime, she was not fussy and seemed to enjoy the movie.

Alex Visits North Carolina.

December 17th, 2009

This morning Mya was greeted by her close friend from Pennsylvania, Alex. The two were so excited to play together that they played all morning long, thus resulting in a three and a half hour nap for both of them.

Later that evening, they enjoyed some time at the bounce house. Initially, Mya did not want to go on any of the bouncers and cried when going up the steps and down the slides. Considering Mya has been going to the bounce houses for almost a year, this was quite abnormal for her. After a few times up the slide, Mya began climbing the  steps saying “self, self” and running at full speed to do it all over again.

Pink Eye.

December 8th, 2009

This morning Mya woke up aggressively rubbing her eyes and whining/crying. As the day went on, the rubbing and screaming began to get worse. A trip to the doctor’s office showed that she was developing a case of pink eye. Although her eye may have gotten so red from the rubbing, the drops Mya has to take for the next week seemed to have help… when Mya stopped kicking and screaming enough to get one in.

Update: Mya’s eye cleared up before the end of the night & discontinued the drops. Pink eye seems to have been misdiagnosed.

Visiting Santa.

December 7th, 2009

Mya had an appointment this morning to get her second swine flu shot. She must have remembered being there the previous time, because she began to scream before they ever made it into the room.

Mya and Dyan went to the mall to have their pictures taken with Santa. Mya instantly began to scream and fight to get away. Once Dylan got into Santa’s lap, Mya allowed her mom to hold her while she got her picture taken. She was even a little uneasy about receiving a reindeer hat from Santa.

Later, Mya hung the star on the tree and tried to eat the lights hanging on the tree. She ran around yelling “bubble bubble,” because of the bubbling lights and then tried tear the needles off the tree.

Family Pictures.

December 5th, 2009

The entire family went out and got their pictures taken today. Dylan slept almost the entire time and Mya did not want her picture taken, so unfortunately, although anticipated, there were a limited number of good shots taken.

Playing w/ Friends.

December 3rd, 2009

Mya went to out for breakfast today, so she could meet up with a bunch of friends for Darcy’s nanny’s last day out. They all had fun in the restaurant play area, although Mya would not climb on the equipment and clung to her mom’s side.

Mya also showed her mom she could breastfeed.

Later, Mya, Dylan and their mom went over to Ashton’s house for a playgroup. Liz, Henry, Darcy and Talbot came over also and the kids ran around the house making lots of noise as the parents and nannies talked.

Mya had a playdate with her friend, Darcy, today. Darcy’s nanny will no longer will be working with her, so it may possibly be one of the last days Mya sees her. Mya followed Darcy around as they played with toys and this was the first day Mya said Darcy’s name, plain as day.
