Crawling!

October 9th, 2008

After weeks of practicing, Mya has finally figured out how to get onto her knees, walk on her feet with her hands on the ground, push into a sitting position and now realizes that she needs to move her arms in order to get some locomotion. She spent all day practicing and eventually moved around a little, although the actual crawling part might need some more practice.

The Library.

October 8th, 2008

Today Mya and Kristin went to the local library to check out some books. It was Mya’s first time at the library, although now that she has a membership, she will probably go once a week to borrow new books to read.

Later in the evening, Mya was found watching her daddy play racquetball. She had her head glued to the glass wall trying to get a better view of Scott.

Daddy’s Home.

October 7th, 2008

Today Scott came home during the day to spend some time with Mya. Everyone went to the park, where Mya showed her dad how much she enjoys the swing.

Then they headed out for dinner, where Mya kept herself occupied by chewing on some zwieback toast.

Mya’s halloween outfit was also ordered today. It was extremely hard to find because it was sold out everywhere. The outfit? That will be revealed at the end of the month when Mya gets her pictures taken in the outfit.

Fruit of the day: Peaches.

7 Months Old.

October 6th, 2008

Today Mya turned 7 months old.

Length: 25 in.

Weight: 14 lbs. 5 oz.

Grandma Gonzalez made lasagna while she was visiting, which Mya just had to try. It was a little thicker than she was used to but she seemed to enjoy it.

Pumpkin Patch.

October 4th, 2008

Mya headed out to a pumpkin patch today with her mom, dad and Grandma and Grandpa Gonzalez. They got to see the farm animals (horses, goats, chickens) and Mya laughed at the other kids playing in a silo of shucked corn. She took a ride down an 80-foot slide, which she seemed to enjoy. Then she took a hay ride over to the pumpkin patch, although she slept most of the ride. She picked out some pumpkins to carve later and was quite exhausted from her busy day.

The Park.

October 3rd, 2008

Mya and Kristin went to the park today. Mya really enjoyed the slide and the swing and was very curious about the other kids playing around her.

New food of the day: Potatoes.

Keep Your Eyes Open.

September 29th, 2008

Today Mya, Kristin and Grandma Glatfelter went out to lunch with family friend, Gayle. Recently, Mya has been very interested in drinking from her mom’s straw, so while Gayle was not watching, Mya grabbed for her drink and spilled soda all over the two. Time to begin moving everything from hand’s reach if you don’t want it touched.

Later, Mya and Kristin headed over to visit Alex. They went for a walk around the block and Alex showed Mya how well he was beginning to move with his walker.

New fruit of the day: Apples.

Renaissance Faire.

September 27th, 2008

Mya went with Alex and his parents to the PA Renaissance Faire today. Quite a few family friends also showed up to enjoy the fair. Mya got to watch glass being blown, a bagpipe musicianist and some humerous improv skits. At one point during the day it poured so bad that it had everyone running for cover. Overall, she seemed to enjoy the fair, although was quite exhausted by the end of the day.

Johnny Jump Up.

September 25th, 2008

Mya was busy playing in her Johnny Jump Up today. She is still a little unsure about actually jumping, but stands up, moves her feet around and turns in her new toy.

Fruit of the day: Bananas.

Visiting Gymboree.

September 24th, 2008

While Mya is away from home, she is allowed to attend other Gymboree groups in the area. Today she went with Alex to play at Gymboree. While she was there, she impressed her mom by pushing her butt in the air and standing on all fours. She was also trying to push herself forward, but would push her legs out from under her and land on her tummy. Later when Great-Grandma Julius was visiting, Mya was sitting on her knees and hands, rocking back and forth trying to figure out how to move. Now her movement of choice seems to be pushing herself backwards.
